Toddlers

At this wonderful age toddlers are learning so many new and exciting things everyday. From the early stages of toddling cutely, to those beginning steps, they have been experimenting and meeting new challenges daily.

Toilet Training **** Our Toddlers get a head start on toilet training in this program. A written Daily Report is given to update each parent on curriculum involvement, meal times, nap times, toilet training, and other daily activities.

Social development **** New social skills and emotions are developing during interaction with other children, resulting in a brand new phase of communication. Their activity level expands and their movements strengthen to take them to the next level of development.

Creative and Literacy Development **** We ensure opportunities for creative self-expression through activities such as art, music, movement and dialogue. We support literacy and numeracy development through materials and activities appropriate to the developmental level of each child.

Parent Involvement **** Our parents are invited to become integrally involved in the development of the program’s curriculum and approach to child development and education. Parents are kept informed about their toddler’s daily activities by our care givers.

Easy Transition *** We plan for routines and transitions so that they occur in a timely, predictable and unrushed manner according to each child’s needs.

Little bit about our Curriculum

We recognize that each chills has an individual rate of development as well as individual interests, temperaments, languages, cultural backgrounds, and learning styles. To promote these goals, teachers are encouraged to target activities to the children’s interests and needs, which are developmentally and linguistically appropriate, large blocks of child-choice times are suggested as a daily routine. Guidance is provided in talking and interacting with the children during these times in order to facilitate learning. To maintain interest and promote learning, materials are rotated weekly.

We use a combination of Pinnacle curriculum and Creative curriculum for our toddlers to provide them with a balanced program.

We provide an environment of acceptance that supports and respects gender, culture, language, ethnicity and family composition through visual displays and books to help create an inclusive environment.

Our teachers support the emerging communication skills of toddlers by providing daily opportunities for each child to interact with others and to express him or herself freely. Younger children primarily interact through parallel play, which is playing side by side but not necessarily with each other. We ensure each child gets the individualized attention from our care givers as is needed for this age group to keep them happy and healthy.
